About the Conductors

Chris Burcin (Director) Chris is HOD Music & Performing Arts at Waimea College in Richmond, Nelson, New Zealand. He is a vocal tutor with the New Zealand Secondary Students Choir and performs with Tower Voices New Zealand and Musica Ficta, Nelson’s Early Music vocal ensemble………………………………

James “Burkey” Burke (Student Conductor) James has been involved in the Music department since his arrival in 2005. Today he can proudly say that he is in Belle a Cappella and is one of three student conductors of Camerata. He enjoys being funny and making people laugh and also he loves to sing, which is quite a good asset for being in a choir and conducting another. This year James is hoping to see Camerata succeed greatly under the joint leadership of the conductors and Mr. Burcin. After leaving school James is hoping to join the NZ Police (watch out!)

Steve Bellis (Student Conductor) Steve has been involved with Camerata since he first arrived at waimea college in 2005. Last year he became a member of the schools other choir, Belle a Cappella and has since been improving his singing ability. This year he has joined two others as Cameratas student conducters. When he isn’t working on something musical he can often be found drawing or taking part in theatre sports.

Rewa Costar (Student Conductor)

Hi all, obviously, I’m Rewa. This is my first year having been involved in Camerata and my second being involved in Belle a Cappella. I moved to Richmond and Waimea College a year and a half ago from Golden Bay (I know.) because of the amazing music and choral oppertunities it offered, plus to get away from my family ;-p just jokes. I have been taking professional private voice lessons for (wait, let me think about this…) 5 years now and am going into my 6th and, according to my mummy, have loved singing all my life. I’m looking forward to succeeding with both Camerata and Belle a Cappella this year.
